Getting Started
Tips for getting started:
- Define the main theme or idea: It's important to decide what your story will be about. Identify the core idea or theme that will run throughout your visual novel. This could be adventure, romance, mystery, or something completely unique.
- Define your characters: Describe your main characters. Who are they? What role do they play in the plot? Ensure that the characters have distinct traits that set them apart from one another.
- Start small: Your first story can be short. This will help you get familiar with the tools and see how t-Plot works. You can always expand your project later.
- Use branching: t-Plot makes it easy to create interactive choices for the player. Think about the moments in your story where the player can make decisions, and how those choices will affect the storyline.
- Plan branches and nodes: Break your story into nodes and branches. Each node can represent a separate scene, and branching will allow the player to make decisions and move along different plot lines.
Example Plan for a Short Storyโ
Below is an example of a short story plan where the player acts as a support agent, giving advice to an operative through a messenger.
Story: "Mission: The Hideout"โ
Introductionโ
The player receives a message from an agent on a secret mission. The agent is in a difficult situation and needs the playerโs advice to successfully complete the task.
- Escape: The agent informs the player that their cover has been blown and they need immediate instructions.
- Mission: The agent explains their objective and asks for help in completing the mission.
- Support: The player provides guidance, helping the agent overcome obstacles and complete the mission.
- Outcome: The agent reports the successful completion of the mission and thanks the player for their help.
This is a good starting point for our test visual novel. You can use this plan as a foundation for creating your own story.
